MWF26 Geology of the Middle of the Malvern Hills 17 May 2026
We will visit Gullet Pass Pit, Gullet Top Quarry and walk along the ridge as far as Clutters Cave, returning across Castlemorton Common. We see the igneous rocks intruded as molten magma deep in the Earth’s crust and also erupted in volcanoes. We will see where there were shorelines 540 and 430 millions of years ago and creatures that lived in tropical seas. We will see the contrasting scenery each side of the hills which is shaped by different underlying rocks and their structure. Two stiles. My mobile phone number will only be in use on the day of the walk.
