MWF94 History in Hanley Castle and Upton 25 May 2026

Starting from the Hanley Road car park we walk along by the River Severn to Hanley Castle to look at the Medieval wharf and then the church. From there we go to King John’s Hunting Lodge and on past the mill on Poolbrook. Our route then takes us over the disused Malvern to Upton railway line and to Clive’s Fruit Farm where we break for refreshments (at own cost). From Clive’s we visit the cholera graveyard and then follow the railway line back to Upton. Finally we walk through the town and look at some of the historical sites in Upton itself, returning to the car park.

There are 3 stiles. Paths can be muddy, so good footwear is required.
