T02B By the Cotswold Line, Day 2, Tuesday 30 May
Rail Trails Worcestershire is a new initiative that will eventually provide a walking route connecting all stations in Worcestershire. The 3-day walk follows a 32-mile section along the ‘Cotswold Line’ from Great Malvern station to Evesham.
On the second day we travel by train from Great Malvern to Worcester Foregate Street where we start our walk.
Using the canal we pass by Shrub Hill station then climb through Perry Wood and on to Worcester Woods Country Park and Visitor Centre. From here we use a tunnel under the M5 to continue on bridleways through the southern part of the Spetchley Hall Estate and passing the modern Benedictine Monastery.
We then continue through open countryside with good views back to the Malvern Hills and Cotswold Escarpment. Before arriving at the pretty village of Peopleton we get a view of Wolverton Hall and its recently built folly.
The final section is over fields to Pinvin and then a short section of pavement to Pershore station to catch our train back to Malvern.
Please bring a packed lunch, snacks and plenty to drink.
