MWF61 Five Wartime Hospitals, Thursday 1 June
Starting from St Wulstans Nature Reserve car park this circular walk will pass through, or close by, the five WW2 US Army hospitals (which were, at that time known as Brickbarns / Wood Farm / Blackmore 2 / Blackmore 1/ Merebrook) situated around the area of Malvern Wells and Hanley Swan. The walk is largely level with short / easy inclines but with much of the walk across uneven fields and rough woodland then you should expect to have to negotiate a large number of stiles. This walk will cross a number of major roads and for some short stretches will also be alongside busy roads.
Whilst virtually all the infrastructure of the various hospitals has been dismantled / redeveloped / naturalised the Walk Leader will at appropriate times point out related features of interest and where possible will also provide brief commentaries at / near each hospital site.
