MWF47 History and Sights around Castlemorton, Tuesday 30 May
This walk begins and ends at the Mill Pond on Hollybed Common, Golden Valley. It is about 2 miles long and is mostly on flat grassy paths with some gentle ascents over small hillocks. Some sections are a little rough and it involves walking along a short section of stepping-stones across a dam on the Mill Pond (this can be avoided).
The walk includes approximately six stops for a short description of the history of the common from ancient times to the modern day. You will be able to see an old cider apple press, evidence of enclosures which took place during the 17th and 19th century and ancient footpaths. There are fine views of the Severn Valley and Bredon Hill to the East, and of Ragged Stone and Midsummer Hills to the West.
If you fancy a gentle short walk whilst learning something about the history of the area, then this is for you!
