MWF44 Happy Valley and the Donkey Shed, Tuesday 30 May
Starting at the Rosebank Gardens, the walk will follow in the footsteps of the hire-donkeys that once took tourists up the Malvern Hills. Rising to the Worcestershire Beacon via the most popular route through Happy Valley, it will look at some of the particular features associated with the donkeys, including a visit to the interior of a recently restored donkey shed, their watering springs and some of the old pathways. The route will then circle North hill to take in views and the pasture fields once used to feed and rest the donkeys in, before returning to Rosebank Gardens by way of the Alice Betteridge path.
The walk includes a long steep ascent to the Beacon, including the 99 steps (but interspersed with a number of stops) and sections of medium to steep ascent or descent in the circuit of North Hill. All along well-trodden pathways with no stiles involved.
