MWF35 Plant Life of the Malvern Hills, Monday 27 May

This short walk begins with a gentle ascent on a well surfaced track up to the Malvern Hills ridge. Frequent stops will be made to view the landscape and plants growing along the route. Once on the ridge top we will visit areas where some of the special wild flowers of the Hills grow. Some are very small, so kneeling/sitting might be necessary. There are extensive views in all directions and a little of the underlying geology will be explained. We will descend steeply through a wooded valley to visit meadows with many early summer wild flowers before a level path crossing Castlemorton Common takes us back to our starting point.

A hand lens will be useful and a small kneeling pad/sit mat.

The descent path is steep in places so good supportive footwear with good grip is recommended.  No stiles.

Total ascent 200m.
